Finally, my UFO Challenge Goals for 2011

Oh my word, I am so motivated to get my UFOs finished, but as I stand here, looking at ALL these projects, I am having a very hard time choosing – kind of like choosing a favorite child; I love everyone, and want to get them all done, but I must choose…

So here it goes...
These little runners need quilting, binding, and labels

 The bag on the left is quilted and needs to be assembled;
the one on the right is pieced and has to be quilted and assembled.

This runner and throw only need binding and labels!

Thimbleberries 2006 Block of the Month: center is done, borders are pieced,
just need to assemble the top, quilt it, and label it.

Moose on the Porch Jelly Roll Challenge
7 blocks to go, borders, quilting, binding and label!

 Need quilting, binding and label

A little more work on the applique, borders,
quilting, binding, and a label! This is one of my favorites.

Fun chickens: Appliques need to be stitched down (raw-edge),
sashing, borders, quilt, bind, and label.

Bridge from a photograph I took in Lancaster, PA. Applique almost finished,
needs detail and shading (paints, pens, etc.), quilting, binding, and label.

These only need binding and labels!

And these, only need binding and labels too!

I am so ready!!!

Design Wall Monday

I love Christmas, but I am so glad to get back to quilting and planning for the next year. Last year I followed Bunny Hill Designs free Block of the Month and finally finished in October this year. So of course, I had to do it this year too. So far, this is all I've done and hope to get it finished in a lot less time than the previous one! Ha!

On my design wall are three little blocks that are ready to be stitched down. I love to do turned-edge applique using starch and my mini-iron.

 For Katherine
 For Bernadine
 For Marvie
and...

I have 10 more to go, I must be nuts.  Oh, I have to have one for myself too, right?

Honeybee's Gift

It's Honeybee's Christmas Party time and this is what I made for my White Elephant gift:

I started out looking for a mug with a honeybee theme, but had no luck, so just a few days before our party, I found this great cookie jar at Marshall's, and 2 days before the party, made this cute little wall hanging. I used a block from the pattern "Home in the Middle" by Holly Mabutas of Eat Cake Graphics. And since it's such a cute one, I plan on making this quilt in 2011.

And look...

I was in such a hurry, that I forgot to reverse the patter for raw-edge appliqué...ha! Not fun when you're trying to lay the pieces down...

You can find the pattern here: http://eatcakegraphics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26&products_id=683

New baby!

On Sunday, October 31st, we were adopted by this cute little thing! We heard meowing coming from underneath the house and decided to feed her (I think it's a her)...well, it took all day, but she finally gave in and loved the white tuna offered, so she decided to adopt us! Her name? Harley - Stephen said she was purring like Roger's Harley, so that's her name. She is so sweet... everyone loves her, even Mag.

Schnibbles Contest!

Look at these great books and fabric! I received all of this from Martingale and Co. & Moda as my first month prize out of three! I just love it all...

My favorite is "Flower Show Quilts" and want to make every quilt in this book.

This Charm Packs are so pretty...

Great Layer Cakes - love the brown...

...does that mean I need to go shopping for coordinating fabrics....

My list of UFOs

I thought it was better than this:

Group A: I have 42 almost done of which 21 need quilting and or small details such as a little shading with paint, beads, etc., 1 is a bag already quilted; just need to cut and construct and 20 only need binding and labels – can’t believe they’re not finished – okay, binding is my least favorite part of quilting…

Group B: I have to confess, that I love everything in my UFO stash and the ones I will give away will be because they were started out as gifts for someone – just never had a definite year of completion goal.

Group C: I have 39 partially done that I love and want to finish. I want to focus on three of this first.

Group D: I have 1 partially done purse that needs to be repurposed!

Group E: 9 barley started and one will be discarded

So that’s it, a total of 91 and plans to have them finished by the end of the year… but what year….ha!

I made these little cards to keep track of my progress:

UFO Challenge

I'm taking on Pat Sloans UFO Challenge.

So today, I loaded my cat quilt on to my Statler and did semi-custom quilting. The borders are different from the center where I used a swirly pantograph. I'm so happy to finally have this done! Now I have to add buttons, charms and crystals, and hope to put the binding on over the weekend. So this is my UFO for the week!

My Garden

I have been playing in the dirt again and loving it! Here are few pictures!

I called Roger at work and asked him to pick me up a tiller on his way home! (instead of a gallon of milk... Ha!)

My babies are growing really well!

Green onions - yum!

Cherry Tomatoes and peppers

Banana plants - already in property; don't know if they're ornamental or will bear fruit

Orange tree with blossoms - smell sooooo good!

Fig tree - can't wait!

And here are some of my roses...
These need a home - another chance to play with the tiller!

Knockout - supposed to be very easy to care for

Double knockout

Queen Elizabeth - smells heavenly
